ADempiere is an industry strength solution that combines ERP, CRM and SCM support for business processes. As opposed to the so called "World Class" ERP solutions, ADempiere (originally based on Compiere®) was designed for the globalized world. While the current incumbent World Class ERP's had to build layers on top of the core product in order to provide support for multiple languages, currencies, companies, etc., ADempiere had them embedded from the original design.

ADempiere scalable architecture makes it viable for deployments of just a few localized users or thousands distributed across the world. ADempiere provides a framework for extending and customizing to meet business needs.

The ADempiere project was created in September 2006 after a long running disagreement between ComPiere Inc., the developers of Compiere™, and the community that formed around that project. The community believed Compiere Inc. placed too much emphasis on the open source lock-in/commercial nature of the project, rather than the community sharing/enriching nature of the project, and after an impassioned discussion decided to split from Compiere™ giving birth to the ADempiere project.

The project name comes from the Italian word meaning 'to fulfill' but with additional context of "to complete, reach, practice, perform the duties of, or free (discharge), it also means to honor and respect", which was felt was very appropriate to what the project wished to achieve.

Since the project started in 2006, Goodwill Consulting has been an early advocate and contributors to ADempiere project. We are honored being able to serve the community under Adempiere Committer Team

In 2012, some community members continued to work on Idempiere (OSGI + Adempiere), which itself is a huge success to win the InfoWorld 2015 and 2016 Bossie Award for Best Open Source Application in larger ERP category.
